Tacoma Family Settles Personal Injury Lawsuit Against County Officials

According to the Seattle Times, a personal injury lawsuit regarding a Tacoma Washington man and a sheriff’s deputy has finally been settled.

Christopher Sean Harris was allegedly injured when a sheriff’s deputy pushed him into a concrete wall.

According to a report by the Seattle Times, the family agreed to a $10 million settlement. Harris reportedly has suffered from brain damage that has subsequently caused him to require around-the-clock care and attention.

The incident, which occurred in 2009, occurred after Mr. Harris was wrongly identified as a suspect by a witness in a bar brawl that had occurred nearby. Harris was walking through Seattle when he was chased on foot by King County deputies. When finally stopped, one of the officers allegedly pushed him into a concrete wall.

The deputies were wearing black uniforms at the time and Harris’ attorney states that Harris was unaware that the men in all-black were law officials.

Mr. Harris will likely require long-term care for life. The settlement is the largest individual award to date issued by King County in Washington state.
