Wrongful Death Lawsuit Against Philadelphia Doctor

Many witnesses and local police force have described the Woman’s Medical Society of Philadelphia as a house of horrors. The story of an unethical abortion doctor in Pennsylvania shocked the nation. Dr. Kermit Gosnell faces eight counts of murder after horrific items such existed such as discarded fetuses and human body parts in the third-world-like conditions clinic, and stories came out of Dr. Gosnell killing live and viable babies after deliveries.

Dr. Gosnell faces other troubles with the law, including several wrongful death and personal injury lawsuits. One of the lawsuits against Gosnell is regards to the death of Karnamaya Mongar, a 41-year-old woman who sought an abortion at the clinic.

Gosnell is a board certified family physician and not a board certified neither obstetrician nor gynecologist. Mrs. Mongar received several intravenous injections of Demerol while under care of Dr. Gosnell and his unlicensed and unqualified staff. The untrained staff in the clinic did not know how to handle drug interactions and life-threatening medical emergencies and most never had any proper medical training.

According to the complaint, Mrs. Mongar’s injections were unmonitored and unrecorded. As a result, Mrs. Mongar stopped breathing. Dr. Gosnell attempted to briefly administer CPR. No life-saving defibrillator existed in the room or other medical emergency medications to start her heart. The staff rearranged the patient’s body before the paramedics arrived to appear as if she was in the process of receiving a routine, safe abortion.

The paramedics found a weak pulse but ran into a problem when trying to remove the patient from the building, due to cluttered hallways and emergency door had a padlock. The staff failed to inform doctors at the hospital as to what dosage of anesthesia the patient received.

Mrs. Mongar’s family is suing for personal injury and wrongful death, seeking unspecified damages.
