Weekly Wrap-up of Recalls 01/18/15-01/24/15

A majority of this week’s recalls listed involve food product recalls, some due to undeclared allergens, while others are due to lack of inspection and/or potential contamination. It is important to be aware of the ingredients in the products you purchase especially for those with allergies to particular items such as peanuts, eggs and dairy.

CR Brands Recalls Mean Green Cleaner and Degreaser Products (21 Jan., 2015) CR Brands recalls Mean Green Cleaner and Degreaser Products due to chemical hazard. The products are labeled “Does not contain Ammonia”, while they may in fact contain Ammonia. The mislabeling can pose a chemical hazard to consumers. The products can be identified by name, size and UPC numbers.

Johnson Health Tech Recalls Matrix Fitness Strength Training Machines (22 Jan., 2015) Johnson Health Tech recalls Matrix Fitness Strength Training Machines due to risk of impact injuries to consumers. It has been discovered that the handle attachment on the strength training machines can detach during use and hit user with force and/or cause loss of balance and cause increase for potential falls.

Hunters’ Tree Stands Recalled (22 Jan., 2015) Hunters’ Tree Stands recalled due to fall hazard.  The cast aluminum platform can break and cause increase risks for user to fall to the ground and potentially suffer serious injury. The product was available for purchase at Bass Pro Shops and other sporting good stores nationwide from July 2014 through November 2014.

Recalls RADAR FARMS Fresh Smoothie Blend, Fresh Sunrise Refresh Fusion, and Fresh Start Daily Powers Fusion (18 Jan., 2015) Inventure Foods, Inc. recalls RADAR FARMS Fresh Smoothie Blend, Fresh Sunrise Refresh Fusion, and Fresh Start Daily Powers Fusion due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.  The recalled products can be identified by name, retailor of purchase, size, item number, UPC number and lot code.

J.J. Fuds, Inc. Recalls Pet Food (20 Jan., 2015) J.J. Fuds, Inc. recalls Pet Food due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.  The recalled products can be identified by name, retailor of purchase, size, UPC number and lot code.

Hospira Inc. Recalls one lot of  0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection  (20 Jan., 2015) Hospira Inc. voluntarily recalls one lot of  0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection, USP, 250 mL (NDC 0409-7983-02, Lot 44-002-JT, Expiry 1AUG2016) to the user level due to a report of particulate in a single unit. The subject recalled unit was distributed nationwide from September 2014 through November 2014.

Gonnella Bakig Company Recalls Jewel Brand Gourmet Sandwich Rolls and Gonnella Brand Sub Buns (21 Jan., 2015) Gonnella Bakig Company recalls Jewel Brand Gourmet Sandwich Rolls and Gonnella Brand Sub Buns due to undeclared milk. The subject products were distributed to retail grocery stores in Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana only and can be identified by package size, name brand, and “BEST BUY” dates.

Freeland Foods, Inc. Recalls Spicy Seed (23 Jan., 2015) Freeland Foods, Inc. voluntarily recalls Spicy Seed due to possible contamination with Salmonella.  Although no reported illnesses have be reported to date associated with the recalled product random sampling has determined  there was a positive test for Salmonella. The product can be identified by name, UPC number, “Best Buy” date and lot number.

Queseria Bendita LLC Recalls Fresh Cheeses and Sour Cream (23 Jan., 2015) Queseria Bendita LLC recalls Fresh Cheeses and Sour Cream due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.  The recalled products can be identified by name, package size, container type, UPC number and “Best Buy” dates.

Cox Veterinary Laboratory, Inc. Recalls “Gastroade Xtra” (23 Jan., 2015) Cox Veterinary Laboratory, Inc. voluntarily recalls “Gastroade Xtra” due to information from FDA that the product must have an approved new animal drug application in order to be marketed in the United States.

House of Bricks Realty, Inc. Recalls Pork Products (21 Jan., 2015) House of Bricks Realty, Inc. recalls Pork Products due to lack of inspection.  The recall involves approximately 130 pounds of French pork rillettes. The recalled pork can be identified by the label, which is displayed in PDF version, and the description listed, which includes size of packaged products.

Holiday Foods Recalls Beef, Chicken and Pork Products (21 Jan., 2015) Holiday Foods recalls Beef, Chicken and Pork Products due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, more specifically peanuts.  The recalled products can be identified by label, which is displayed in PDF version, and the descriptions listed, which include the size of packaging, product name and case codes.

Aspen Foods Div. of Koch Food, Inc.  Recalls Chicken Steak Products (23 Jan., 2015) Aspen Foods Div. of Koch Food, Inc.  recalls Chicken Steak Products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, more specifically wheat and soy. The recalled pork can be identified by the label, which is displayed in PDF version, and the fact that the product was available for purchase in 2 pound box units containing vacuum-packages of “Market Day Teriyaki Flavored ChicNSteakes”.

Primecut Meats Recalls Chicken Breast Fritters Products (23 Jan., 2015) Primecut Meats recalls Chicken Breast Fritters Products due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, more specifically eggs. The recalled product can be identified by its label, which is available in PDF version, and its packaging in 4 pound boxes named “Prime Poultry Chicken Breast Fritters”.
