Two Million Ford Vehicles Recalled Because Doors Could Open While Driving

FordFord Motor Company recalled more than two million vehicles due to the risk of the doors opening while driving. This recall follows two other recalls issued by Ford in recent months.

The new recall covers several models, including the Ford Fiesta, Focus, Fusion, C-Max, Mustang, Escape SUV’s, Lincoln MKZ sedans and MKC SUVs, and Transit Connect Vans. The models affected range between 2011 and 2016, depending on the specific model involved.

Ford recalled vehicles for the same issue in 2016 and 2017. The defect results from a part on the door latch that can crack when subjected to high heat. The crack can result in the door not being properly closed, causing it to unexpectedly open while the car is moving.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), several complaints of doors opening while these vehicles are in operation have been submitted.

If you believe your vehicle is part of the recall, a search of the NHTSA recall database will help you determine whether your vehicle is affected. To locate the necessary information for the recall, you will need to inspect your vehicle’s door latch, which will provide the vehicle codes. If you have a vehicle that is included in any of the recent Ford recalls, it is important that you take the vehicle in to be serviced as soon as possible.
