According to industry experts, tourism is on the rise in Florida. The Sarasota Herald-Tribune reported that 22.1 million tourists visited Florida in the second quarter of 2012, setting the pace for a new yearly record for tourism. Taxable sales for tourism from January through May 2012 were $31.5 billion.
“Increased visitation and spending by travelers to the state have fueled 27 straight months of job growth,” said Visit Florida chairperson John Hastings. “These are very positive indicators for Florida tourism and the state as a whole.”
A record was set in Florida for tourism in 2011 with 86 million visitors total to the Sunshine State. Tourism is the largest industry in Florida, so it is crucial to business. Visitors needs to feel safe coming to FLordia, whether it is for the beaches and lakes, the weather or the amusement parks.
