Second Infant Death Prompts Re-Announcement of Delta Enterprise “Safety Peg” Drop-Side Crib Recall

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the agency has made a re-announcement of an infant crib recall after a 7-month-old baby girl died. The agency issued a recall in 2008 for the Delta Enterprise “Safety Peg” drop-side crib, stating it posed a risk of entrapment and suffocation. At the time of a 2008 recall, the CPSC notified consumers about the death of an 8-month-old girl who suffocated when the drop side of the crib detached. The agency also received reports at that time of two entrapments and nine crib detachments.
The agency warns consumers that buying drop-side cribs second hand is risky, as the cribs may not be safe for a baby or may be missing safety parts. It also warns parents and caregivers to discontinue using cribs with missing or broken parts. Delta Enterprise “Safety Peg” drop-side crib was sold in stores nationwide between January 1995 and December 2005.
The recalled crib has Delta’s name and address printed on the bottom of mattress support boards and the Delta logo is on the crib’s top teether rail. Parents can locate model numbers on the top of the mattress support board. The product recall includes the following 49 Delta Enterprise “Safety Peg” drop-side crib models:
