Redken Hair Mousse and Rogue Fitness Barbell Brackets Subject to Recalls

According to WLTX, Redken is voluntarily recalling one million cans of hair mousse. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the aerosol container’s liner can corrode over time, posing a risk of the cans rupturing and expelling its contents.

Redken has received 41 reports of cans rupturing but no reports of injuries. The word “Redken” and the number “10” are printed on the front of the product. The can is silver with black and white lettering.

The cans of Redken mousse were sold nationwide from January 1998 through February 2011. Consumers are asked to immediately stop using the recalled mousse, record the product’s lot code and then discard the contents by spraying it into a waste container. Consumers can contact Redken with the lot code from the container for a refund of the purchase price.

Additionally, Coulter Ventures LLC has issued a voluntary recall of Rogue Fitness Barbell Brackets due to a risk of the weights falling off and causing injury. The CPSC states that the weld between the bracket and pin that holds the barbell bracket in place on a weightlifting rack can break, causing the weights to fall off and pose a serious risk of injury to consumers. The company has received three reports of the weld between the bracket and the pin breaking. One report included a sprained wrist injury.

The affected Rogue Fitness J-Cup brackets are used to hold barbells on weightlifting racks. The brackets are used with the Rogue Fitness SPX Squat Press Stand, R-3 Racks, R-4 Racks and Infinity Rigs. The brackets were sold on the Rogue Fitness’ website from March 2009 through December 2010.
