According to Know About Health, parents are warned of a Canada and the United States safety product recall for the IKEA SNIGLAR crib.
A crib is one of the most important parts of an infant’s room, as it is where many babies spend most of their time during the first few months of life. The crib is also one of the most expensive items that many parents will have to purchase.
According to reports, Health Canada and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission have recalled the IKEA SNIGLAR brand cribs, urging parents to reconsider their use even though no injuries have occurred as of yet.
The reason for the recall is due to the possibility of infants becoming trapped and suffocating if the supports for the mattress detach. According to the recall, some bolts are not long enough to support the mattress, resulting in a potential collapse hazard.
The full size cribs feature model number 60091931 and were on the market in IKEA stores across the United States and in Canada from late 2005 into mid 2010. IKEA plans to offer a free crib repair kit.
