Bunk Bed Recall

On March 20^th, Bedz King operating out of Arlington, Texas, recalled approximately 2,900 bunk beds with side ladders. The bunk beds have been recalled due to a discovered entrapment risk posed by the beds having a protruding corner post, which exceeds the industry standard of 5mm.

The recalled bunk beds were sold in twin over twin, as well as full over full and twin over full combinations. They were available online for purchase from July 2011 to October 2013 in four colors: white, espresso, honey and cappuccino. The Model numbers can be found on the printed labels attached to the top of the head boards of the effected bunk beds and include BK 150SL, BK 151SL, BK 950SL, and BK 975SL.

Thus far there have not been any reported injuries related to the bunk bed recall, but consumers who have purchase a  bunk bed with one of the above model number are cautioned and  should discontinue use until instructed the product is safe.  It is illegal to resell a recalled product and those who discover they have purchased one of the recalled beds are encouraged to contact Bedz King for a free repair kit. Recalls do not always have to be a result of an injury caused by a defective device and instead at times they are done as a precaution before a foreseeable injury does occur, however regards a recall should be taken seriously.  According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, an average of 29.5 million injuries occur which are attributed to defective products annually.  Within the United States alone, each year defective products kill more than 22,000 people.
