Britax Stroller Recall

On January 30th, Britax recalled three models of its strollers. Consumers are cautioned and encouraged to discontinue use of B-Agile, B-Agile Double and BOB Motion strollers, to avoid injuries. The recall effects approximately 216,000 strollers in the United States and 8,800 in Canada.

The recall was sparked by discovery of the folding mechanism posing a hazard to users. The hinge can partially amputate fingertips, break fingers or cause severe lacerations, among various other injuries, when the button to release is pulled and release strap is pulled. The strollers were manufactured between March 2011 and June 2013 and are marked with the following model numbers: U341763, U341764, U341782 and U341783 for the B-Agile strollers; U361818 or U361819 for the B-Agile Double strollers; and U391820, U391821 for the BOB Motion strollers. The manufacture date and model information can be found on the label inside the stroller’s metal frame near the rear wheel.

The strollers were available for purchase at major retailers nationwide and online. Those who have purchased one of the effected models should discontinue use and contact Britax for a free repair kit.

Thus far there have been eight reports of incidents involving the recalled strollers. These reports include a partial finger amputation, a broken finger and severe finger lacerations.
