According to the Boston Channel, the family of one of the Boston victims killed in the September 11 terrorist attacks has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against officials, airlines and security screeners at Logan International Airport. The wrongful death lawsuit alleges that the screeners did not know what mace was and could not identify it, and claims the general manager of a security company was unaware that Osama bin Laden and his network were targeting commercial jets. The suit also claims that workers did not speak English well enough to perform their job duties.

The family of Mark Bavis, 31, a National Hockey League scout who died aboard United Airlines Flight 175 filed the wrongful death lawsuit against United Airlines and a private security company.

One expert said that these allegations were not even in the September 11 Commission report and that most of the families have already settled their case.

Bavis’ twin brother said it was shocking that it took nine years for these allegations to come out. The defendants have argued that they should not be responsible for terrorist attacks that came without a warning. Among the documents filed were depositions with screeners who claimed they were never trained about threats, potential terrorist threats or Al-Qaida.
