According to Southeast Texas Record, following the assault of another woman by a female employee, Dallas-based WFC Limited Partnership, doing business as World Finance Corporation, is being sued.
WFC Limited Partnership and its employee, Zanobia Jones, are being sued by Pam Atkins. Ms. Atkins filed the lawsuit against the two on January 19th, 2011. Originally, the suit was filed at the 123rd Judicial District Court of Panola County, but has since been removed to the Eastern District of Texas, Tyler Division, as of February 11th.
On May 12th, 2009, Ms. Atkins claims to have been assaulted by Ms. Jones. At the time of the assault, Ms. Atkins claims that Ms. Jones was acting within the scope of her employment at the time, which is why WFC Limited Partnership is included in the lawsuit; as they are liable for their employee’s actions.
The plaintiff is claiming that because Ms. Jones was acting ‘within the scope of her employment,’ that the assault was done both knowingly and intentionally.
Ms. Atkins is seeking an award of punitive damages; as well as awards for medical expenses, mental anguish, physical impairment, physical disfigurement, physical pain, physical injury, attorney’s fees, court costs and interest.
A trial by jury has been requested.
