Every 75 seconds, someone in the United States is bitten by a dog.  Over 1,000 Americans seek treatment for dog bites and various other animal inflicted injuries.  Studies have shown that approximately 4.7 million dog bites occur every year. These bites end in bodily harm to individuals of all ages and 70% result in death in cases that involve pit bulls, rottweilers and wolf hybrids. According to research over a period of 20 years from 1979 to 1998, at least 25 dog breeds were involved in 238 human dog bite related deaths. More than half of the deaths associated with dog bites were tied to Rottweilers and pit bulls. Woman Indicted Following Fatal Dog Attack

The owner of a two pit bulls who mauled man to death in a vicious dog attack last summer has been indicted, according to the Orlando Sentinel. Police charged Deanna Blitch, 51, for the attack. Her son, William Braxton Blitch, 25, is charged with resisting and officer without violence and providing false information. The man killed was 74-year-old Roy McSweeney, a neighbor of the Blitch’s. Deanna is also facing charges for lying about how the incident occurred. Her and her son told police they no longer had the dogs while they were actually in their home. “My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family of Roy McSweeny,” said Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy. “I know that these indictments will not replace their loss, but I hope that bringing the owner of these vicious animals to justice will provide them with a little comfort.” What do you think the punishment should…
