Attorney Speaks Out Against Distracted Driving

Attorney Nicholas Primrose Presents for End Distracted Driving Organization at Local High School

On Tuesday, April 7, 2015, our attorney, Nicholas Primrose, traveled to Winter Springs High School to present to students about Distracted Driving as part of the Florida Justice Association and End Distracted Driving organization’s “Student Awareness Initiative.”

End Distracted Driving is an organization founded by Joel Feldman following the death of his daughter, Casey. Casey, 21 at the time, was tragically killed by a distracted driver while she was crossing the street. As a trial lawyer, Joel, with the help of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, 60 for Safety, and others, created this presentation to make the public aware of the problems of distracted driving. Since its founding, EndDD.org has sponsored presentations and talks across the country for over 225,000 teens and 25,000 adults.

One of the important points of the presentation is that the use of cell phones (i.e. texting) while driving causes a great and negative impact on society. In educating the newest generation of drivers to put down the cell phone there are benefits to all families. However, as the presentation points out, distracted driving is not only a teenage driver problem, but a problem everyone faces.

Mr. Primrose recently became aware of EndDD through coaching the Barry Trial Team in the American Association for Justice Student Trial Advocacy Competition; the case packet was written by Joel Feldman and dealt with distracted driving.

Since that competition, Mr. Primrose has volunteered to be a speaker for EndDD. He presented for the first time at Winter Springs High School to approximately 400 students. “It is such a great message and important presentation that needs to be held in every school. Looking at your cell phone while driving is so widely accepted these days, everyone thinks they can be safe doing it, but they are wrong.” Mr. Primrose wants to help promote the message of EndDD, “we need to be safe drivers, not lucky drivers. Put down the cell phone, that text message or phone call can wait.”

As personal injury attorneys, the law firm of Wooten Kimbrough sees the negative impact of texting and driving on a daily basis by assisting our clients injured in auto accidents. We can all make the roadways safer by using the advice and message of paying attention to the road – keeping your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road.
