Linon Home Décor Products Recalls Foldable Wood Patio Chairs (25 March, 2015) Linon Home Décor Products recalls Foldable Wood Patio Chairs due to an increased risk for consumer falls in the event a user sits on the edge of the seat. Thus far there have been four reports of the chairs tipping over under such circumstances and two resulted in minor injuries. Consumers are encouraged to discontinue use of the recalled chairs and return the product to the store of purchase for a refund.

Specialized Bicycle Components Recalls Aerobars (26 March, 2015) Specialized Bicycle Components Recalls Aerobars due to a defect involving the bolt used to affix the Aerobars. The bolt can loosen causing an increased risk for the rider to fall. The recall includes carbon and alloy Aerobars sold both individually and on select model bicycles: model years 2012 through 2015 Specialized Shiv bicycles and model year 2013 Specialized Transition Apex bicycles. There have been four reports of the bolt loosening but no injuries reported associated with the defect. Consumers are encouraged to immediately stop using the Aerobars and contact the company for a replacement.

Food and Drug Administration- Recalls/Safety Alerts

Giant Eagle Recalls Japanese Breaded Cod Fillets (23 March, 2015) Giant Eagle has issued a voluntary recall of Japanese Breaded Cod Fillets due to an undeclared allergen, more specifically soy. The recall involves all lots of the Giant Eagle brand Japanese Breaded Cod Fillets, which were prepared and sold individually in Giant Eagle and Market District supermarkets. The recalled fillets were available for purchase in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and Maryland. Thus far there have been no reported illnesses associated with the recalled fillets.

Giant Eagle Recalls Little Italy Paninis (23 March, 2015) Giant Eagle voluntarily recalls Little Italy Paninis due to the presence of an undeclared allergen, more specifically eggs. The recalled paninis were prepared and available for purchase in Giant Eagle and Market District supermarkets in Pennsylvania and Ohio. The UPCs for the recalled paninis are as follows: 97525 20399 Little Italy Panini, Cold; 07369 20399 Little Italy Panini, Hot. Thus far no illnesses have been reported associated with the recalled paninis.

Wegmans Recalls Wegmans Organic Food You Feel Good About Just Picked Spinach (23 March, 2015) Wegmans recalls Wegmans Organic Food You Feel Good About Just Picked Spinach due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled spinach was available between January 27 and March 21, 2015 for purchase in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, and Massachusetts. The spinch subject to this recall bear the following codes: BEST USED BY JAN 26 2017 50265; BEST USED BY FEB 02 2017 50335. Thus far no illnesses related to this recall have been reported.

Blue Bell Ice Cream Recalls 3 oz. Institutional/Food Service Ice Cream Cups (23 March, 2015) Blue Bell Ice Cream recalls 3 oz. Institutional/Food Service Ice Cream Cups due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.  The ice cream cups subject to this recall were distributed in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Wyoming via food service accounts. Carmel Food Group Recalls Frozen Ravioli (24 March, 2015) Carmel Food Group recalls Frozen Ravioli due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.  The recall includes three frozen ravioli items: Rising Moon Organics Garlic & Veggie Ravioli, 6/8 oz; Rising Moon Organics Spinach Florentine Ravioli, 6/8 oz; and Rising Moon Organics Spinach & Cheese Ravioli, 6/8 oz. Twin City Foods, Inc. Recalls Spinach Products (24 March, 2015) Twin City Foods, Inc. Recalls Spinach Products due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.  The recall involves Frozen Cadia Organic Cut Spinach, Meijer Organics Chopped Spinach, Wild Harvest Organic Cut Leaf Spinach, and Wegmans Organic Just Picked Spinach. Superior Foods, Inc. Recalls Frozen Organic Chopped Spinach (24 March, 2015) Superior Foods, Inc. recalls Frozen Organic Chopped Spinach, which was exclusively distributed at Target stores, due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The recall includes “Simply Balanced Organic Chopped Spinach 10 oz. steam in bag” with the UPC code 85239 00663.

Best Foods Inc. Recalls Deer Brand Raisin Golden (27 March, 2015) Best Foods Inc. recalls Deer Brand Raisin Golden due to undeclared sulfites. The recall includes 7 ounce clear yellow plastic packages of Deer Brand Raisin Golden with the UPC code 714760029255.

Silver Lake Cookie Company, Inc. Recalls Easter Egg Cookies (27 March, 2015) Silver Lake Cookie Company, Inc. recalls Easter Egg Cookies due to the presence of an undeclared allergen, more specifically egg. The recalled Easter eggs were sold primarily in MN, WI, NY, GA, IL, CT, PA, MA, and IN. Thus far there have been no reported illnesses associated with the recalled Easter eggs, but consumers are being advised to remain aware that the recalled Easter eggs do contain eggs and are marked with the UPC code 0 37695 49817 1.

Expands recall to Include Private Label Branded Walnut and Trail Mix Products due to potential contamination with Salmonella. Thus far there have been no reported illnesses associate with the recalled items.

FSIS Recalls

Stock Yards Meats Packing Co., Inc. Recalls Roast Beef Products (23 March, 2015) Stock Yards Meats Packing Co., Inc. recalls Roast Beef Products due to misbranding. The product was mislabeled as corn beef/ The recall includes 6-10 lb. packages of “Ready to Cook Corned Beef Bottom Round Flat” bearing the establishment number “EST. 6071”. Viz Cattle Recalls Flap Meat (25 March, 2015) Viz Cattle Recalls Flap Meat due to misbranding. The products included within this recall do not list all ingredients on the product labels. The recall includes 30 lb cardboard boxes of “Flap Meat TB” and bear the shipping marks “MXLS0020” or “MXLS0014” and “TIF 120”. There have been no reported adverse reactions by consumers relating to the recalled products.
