The Reality of the Tracy Morgan Trucking Accident

This past June, the nation was taken over by the news that Tracy Morgan, the hilariously funny comedian from NBC’s 30 ROCK, was involved in a horrific crash on the New Jersey Turnpike in the early morning hours of June 7th. Stories from every single media outlet reported that a Wal-Mart tractor-trailer struck a limo transporting Tracy Morgan and some of his friends, unfortunately passenger James McNair passed away. This collision caused an immediate investigation into the grueling world of tractor-trailer drivers and the somewhat relaxed regulations on tractor-trailers. Ford Launches Recall of Certain F-150 Trucks

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2014 Ford F-150 truck, which were manufactured May 26, 2014 through June 19, 2014. The recalled vehicles were equipped with Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS), which it has been discovered may have been installed incorrectly. If incorrectly installed the EPAS gear motor position magnet can cause a total loss of steering control. The recall is expected to begin on July 7, 2014 and Ford dealers will be replacing the EPAS steering gear, at no additional cost to owners.  Because of the possible loss of control associated with the trucks, the company advises consumers not to drive their vehicles until they have been remedied.  Owners can contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673 with any additional questions and/or concerns. Teenage Drivers Behind the Wheel

For many years the relationship between age and driving behavior has interested safety researchers and administrators. Generally it is common knowledge that there are higher risks associated with teenage drivers. Traffic crashes are the leading cause of teenage deaths across the United States. Citation rates for 16 year olds is 1.8 times higher than drivers of all ages, while the citation rate for drivers 16 to 19 years-old is 2.1 times higher than drivers of all ages. The numbers of teenage drivers who had been drinking that were involved in accidents are much higher than of those amongst drivers of all other ages as well. In 2008, Crashes involving drivers ranging from 15-20 years-old were the cause of 6,428 traffic crash related fatalities.
